Is solar silicon blue? To be exact, the solar cells are blue and polycrystalline silicon solar cells. Monocrystalline silicon solar cells are generally black.

Why is it blue or black? Because that color is the effect of Anti reflected Coating. The solar panel mainly absorbs photons near the green wavelength of visible light, while the solar panel is blue, indicating that it reflects light of blue wavelength. Of course, black is not reflective. So black is the best, followed by blue.

At present, there is a kind of pigment sensitized solar cell, which refers to the cell that adds pigment and electrolyte between two transparent electrode substrates on the glass substrate or plastic substrate. With this technology, transparent batteries and batteries of various colors can be manufactured. The efficiency of this battery is not high, but the price is cheaper than that of silicon.

PECVD is a necessary step in the production process of battery chips. The purpose is to coat a layer of antireflection film (silicon nitride) on the silicon chip surface to reduce light reflection. The coating thickness is about 80 um. The optical performance of silicon nitride film makes its surface blue.
