18KW On-grid solar system in Guatemala
18KW On-grid solar system in Guatemala
At the beginning of 2022, we were approached by a client in Guatemala who told us about the local electricity situation in Guatemala.
In 2021, the price of electricity in Guatemala has risen by around 2% to 2.5%.
The client therefore sought a customised solar power system for his house.
The system was customized according to the client's needs and information as follows :
1. No batteries for backup (the client uses more electricity during the day and less at night, minus the batteries, reducing the cost of the system)
2. Rquirement for maximum power generation efficiency
3. Customized voltage single phase 120V 60Hz
With this information and requirements from the client, Namkoo's electrical and structural engineers began the customization of the system.
The electrical engineer was given a monthly electricity bill from the customer and was informed of the average monthly electricity consumption of the customer. Based on the average sunshine hours in the area, the 18KW solar panels were calculated to meet the customer's daily daytime electricity consumption.
Based on the surrounding images sent by the client, the structural engineer advised the client on the possible installation of concrete piers and Flat Roof Panel Bracket on the flat roof for the solar panels. This way the solar panels will not be less efficient in generating electricity due to shading.
Once the proposal was finalised and a quote was provided to the client, the client was satisfied with the proposal and price. The electrical engineer drew up the electrical connection diagrams and the structural engineer drew up the installation diagrams for the solar panel bracket.
After a period of shipping, the customer received the goods in good condition and successfully completed the installation of the system according to the installation schematics provided by Namkoo's engineers.
After six months of use, the customer has reported that the system is working well. In August 2022, Guatemala extended the tariff subsidy to customers with a monthly consumption of 125 kWh, increasing the subsidy by 227.5 million quetzales.
As a result, more and more customers are choosing to use renewable energy to run their household appliances and avoid high electricity bills.
