How to solve the problem of lack of electricity in the islands? ---A 50KW off-grid system for a lumberyard warehouse in the Marshall Islands

The system was funded by the U.S. federal government and was subject to an open bidding process with strict and high standards for suppliers.

The warehouse mainly has two types of load, one is the regular office appliances voltage is AC110V, including computers, lights, refrigerators, printers, water fountains, small pumps, roller shutters, in addition because the Marshall Islands year-round high temperature, the warehouse is equipped with four AC220V air conditioners, it is worth noting that these four air conditioners are South Control supporting the supply of hybrid photovoltaic air conditioning, and conventional air conditioning compared to energy-saving effect up to 80% or more.

For the two voltages as well as the load and power demand, the engineer team of South Control finally provided a 50KW off-grid solar system solution after repeated discussions and design, which includes 45KW monocrystalline solar panels, two 100A240V MPPT controllers, 50KW off-grid inverter and 147kwh Li-ion battery pack.
The 45KW solar panel consists of 100 450W high-efficiency monocrystalline half-sheet solar panels, the efficiency of this module adopts PERC cell technology, the conversion efficiency is as high as 21.5%; in view of the warehouse load has two voltages, we use two off-grid inverters to solve this demand, one is 25KW AC110V to carry the regular load, and one is 15KW AC2220V to carry the air conditioner. In addition, because of the high quality requirements of our customers, we use lithium iron phosphate batteries with a cycle time of up to 6,000 times, with a service life of more than 15 years. At the same time, we configured an energy management system (EMS) to unify the management of the controller, inverter and lithium battery to ensure smooth operation and better maintenance of the whole system.

Because it is the rainy season in Marshall Islands, and the warehouse also faces the problem of old roof leakage, so it needs to change tiles while installing solar panels, the installation progress is slow, and there will be more photos and video feedback after the installation is completed.

According to the feedback from Freddie, the project manager, they are very satisfied with the products, technical support and after-sales service of NSC. In the future there will be photovoltaic projects will definitely be the first to find the South control cooperation.
